Dr. Ida Rolf is the founder of structural integration therapy. She uses the concept of Tensegrity with connective tissue to help describe how our fascia, or connective tissue, is actually an entirely singular unit that holds our body together yet allows us the ability to move in any direction.
Structural integration focuses on the fascia or connective tissue of the body. It aligns and balances the body by lengthening and repositioning the fascia. When the body is out of alignment it creates imbalances and inefficiency in movement. This can result in stiffness, discomfort and a loss of energy. When restricted fascia is released the body can return to its structurally optimal position and function. This gives the body more flexibility, coordination and increased performance.
Structural integration therapy is ideal for chronic pain issues due to injury or disease that causes a compensation pattern or imbalance associated with repetitive motion.
*It works best in the 6 session series.
